ArtemisSF is inspired by the desire to support women and genderqueer artists.
The retro feminist name was suggested by my then 16 year old daughter Mala.
I liked the idea that many “women” have had a history with this name. It seems to resonate with different generations all the way back to the Greek Myths.
We are working with different curators from different generations, cultures, pronouns, and backgrounds to curate shows in the space. The space acts as a HOME/gallery, working space, salon, poetry venue depending on the needs of each project.
Influence: the constant juggling of roles artists/designers/mothers/partners and how this creative tension expresses itself in the interplay of art, writing, and food pairings.
